Podcasting
I thought this was going to be more difficult than it actually was in the end. I was struggling with how to do this and what to do it on. I was more afraid of the technology than the actual assignment. I used a lesson plan that I modified from another class and and created my script. I know this my first attempt and lighting may have been an issue, but I had rather little problems in doing this assignment.
I can see the multiple uses of such a technology. However, I am presented with an interesting conflict in that I feel podcasting is another means to potentially provide lecture materials via an online medium. I see the pros and cons in this. For some students the flexibility of viewing and reviewing podcasts provides an experience that you do not have in the classroom, unless you video tape the lecture.
Overall this experience was fun, thought provoking and made me overcome a technology-based fear. Thank you!

Blogging & Twittering
Blogging and twittering I still find to be more entertaining than educational. However, I can see the value is these mediums as well. Blogging and twittering allows students to interact and get immediate responses from people around the world. This is priceless. For the sake of my nieces I am following Jtimberlake network (Justin Timberlake)....
Blogging allows students to have a safe environment which they create. This safe environment provides the ability to post thoughts and use the internet for organizing ideas. In using blogging, students can post and get others to respond. Responses to blogs allow students to take ideas and creativity to new levels and receive immediate input. By receiving immediate input, students can interact from the next school or around the world. This ability to interact without bounds has allowed businesses and schools to work collectively and efficiently. The experiences and interactions students gain from people from other countries and around the world, makes our world smaller. Having the world at the touch of the keyboard is something previous generations never dreamed of or thought possible. Students do all of this from the comforts of their home or classroom. Ultimately, this allows the student to create a safe and productive learning space.
Twittering is a immediate gratification. Twittering allows students to follow world events. Follwing world events as they happen through people's twitterings adds a new level to world understanding. As with the earthquake in Haiti, I have friends who have use the internet and twitter to communicate with people there. This unique ability to get comments from entertainers and people around the world, provides an exciting venue for students to learn about events and people. As people twitter about the events in Iraq or Haiti or China, students are able to get firsthand accounts of things they see on television. One thing I have found about twittering is that news is less likely to be misunderstood or not reported. When events are happening, twittering allows with one text immediate broadcast of events from Haiti from the twitterings of Diane Sawyer. Students can feel more connected to world events and people. Twittering has certainly brought the world closer for better or worse.
